😮 How Do I Get Started?
1. Fill Out the Form:
You need to fill out this form to get started. Once you fill this form out, you’ll be in our “content writers” database.
2. What should you be writing about:
We want people to know how Novu can work with different platforms and systems worldwide. That can be any other open-source library, a SaaS API, or your own startup. ANYTHING WITH A USE-CASE OR INTEGRATION WITH AN EXISTING PLATFORM WILL BE GREAT! 🤩
3. Write an Outline:
After you pick a topic to work on, you will write a short outline of your article and send it to us. This helps us eliminate any misunderstandings from the beginning and agree on the article structure.
If the article outlines a gap between your knowledge and the topic, we will provide advice and guidelines for writing. If the gap is significant, we might ask you to choose a different topic as per our needs and your expertise.
4. Work on the Blog Post:
After you’ve been assigned a topic, you can start working on it but before you do, read our Style Guide For Blogs.
You’ll be sent a Notion document to write the article in. This is important for our writing process as we can later give you comments on your article and ensure that it is managed better.
If you prefer writing with another tool and then pasting it into Notion, that’s fine too! What’s important is that the final draft is pasted into the Notion document.
5. Review Blog Post:
Once you’re done, please email sumit@novu.co to inform him that you’re done with the post. Our team will then review it. If any changes are required from your side, we’ll leave comments on the Notion document or contact you if further actions are needed.
Your article will probably undergo an editing process where we make changes either to polish the writing or for SEO purposes.
6. Publish Blog Post:
Approved Posts:
Once the blog post has been reviewed, all changes necessary have been made, and the post has been approved for posting, we’ll assign a publish date for your blog post. You’ll be asked to provide details about yourself to feature on our website if you’re a new writer.
If this blog post is cross-posted to other platforms like DEV.to or Medium, we’ll ask you to publish it under the Novu organization on the agreed date.
Other Posts:
Some posts might undergo the entire writing and review process, but if our team finds that they do not fit our blog or posting schedule, we’ll ask you to post it on your accounts on DEV.to. You’ll still get paid for it as you would for approved posts.
7. Get Paid!
Once the blog post is published, you can submit an invoice to get paid. Please refer to the FAQ section to learn how to submit an invoice.
