About me
Hi everyone! My name is Zac (no h) Clifton. I live in New Albany Indiana on the other side of the river from Louisville Kentucky where I was born and raised.
I grew up on a small non comercial family farm. I originally wanted to be an architect or a chemist but both where too rigid and not creative enough to satisfy my wants. However, after taking 1 course on coding in python I was hooked on programming. After learning the ropes and becoming apart of multiple school groups, I soon became the president of the Computer Science Group (CSG). Over the 3 years I was president I sourced and built a Hyper-converged Data Center with the help of the department through local companies that have datacenters.
During this time, I also started an internship at Louisville Gas & Electric as an automation engineer. I ran running the companies devops process and assited created cool automations like setting up processes to fix lights when notified by the FAA. Once the IT department merged into our parent company, I got promoted to an Enterprise Architect and Platform Engineer. During this time I assisted in reviewing new tools, creating automatons and integrations, and building the Kubernetes deployment files for the platform written in java on top of Micronaut.
Hobbies
Currently, I am spending most of my spare time building our side business CSGrader.org where I am working to minimize my ignorance debt to become an entrepreneur of my own infrastructure company one day.
When I do get the chance I love to go fly. Flying has been my top bucket list item since I was very young. When I first got hired on at LGE as an intern I had enough money to fly once every two weeks and I did this for 3 years until September, 2021 when I finally got my private pilot license. In the long term, I want to own small plane so I can go up into the sky any time I want and do Aerobatics.
Favorite Place
My favorite place in the world is Dolan's pub limerick, Ireland. We went there on our recent trip to Europe and I could not get over how great the community was there and how great the live music was. I definitely want to go back there at least one more time before I pass.
Favorite Movies
I am not a big movie person but my favorite is O Brother, Where Art Thou.
