How to play
To play Spreadsheet Battleship, each player needs two things: a game board and the placement of ships. You can use graph paper labelled with letters and numbers for the game board, and either randomly assign battleship placement or let each player choose where to place the ships.
Players place their battleships on the spreadsheet, without layering, while leaving a gap of at least 1 cell all around each ship. Each navy has 5 vacels:
Carrier | 5 cells |
Battleship | 4 cells |
Cruiser | 3 cells |
Destroyer | 2 cells |
Submarine | 1 cells |
Players take turns firing on enemy ships. To fire, you name the coordinates (D-10 for example, is the cell in the intersection of column D and row 10). The defending player then declares “hit” or “miss” and both players mark X for a hit and O for missed. When every cell containing a ship is marked X the player will say “you sunk my battleship!”
Winner
The last player with remainning ships wins.
